Your chance to win two great book and film combos! -‘The Kite Runner’ and ‘Girl With A Pearl Earring’…

17th May 2015

May booksThe prize in our competition this month is the book and DVD set of The Kite Runner (book by Khaled Hosseini, film starring Ebrahami Zekeria and Khalid Abdalla), plus the book and DVD set of Girl With A Pearl Earring (book by Tracy Chevalier, film starring Scarlett Johansson and Colin Firth). These are two of our all time favourite book and film combinations – both the original written works, and the big screen versions, are truly exceptional. The Kite Runner book was top of the New York Times best sellers list for two full years and won numerous awards. The film version was nominated for both an Oscar and a BAFTA. Girl With A Pearl Earring book won both the Orange Fiction Award and the Barnes and Noble Discover Great New Writers Award. The film version was nominated for three Oscars and no less than ten BAFTAs!

To win this fabulous prize all you have to do is complete the Comments Box below with the name of your personal favourite book and film combo – where both versions are truly memorable and best use the medium in which they are set… the written word or the visual impact of film.

The competition will close at midnight UK time on Wednesday 27th May – and the winner will be the first name out of the hat on Thursday 28th May.

Good luck!

Life of Pi – the book was so rich with layers of meaning and wonderful description, and the film which was the first one I saw in 3D, used that medium so well. It was the one instance I can think of where I wasn’t disappointed by the film version of the book.

I loved the book and the film of Gone Girl, both conveyed the compelling storyline and were packed with tension and twists.

It’s got to be Daphne Du Maurier’s ‘Rebecca’. I love that the voice over at the beginning of the 1940 film matches the first line of the book.
