GIVEAWAY: 3 copies of The Medici Murders by David Hewson – VENICE

18th September 2022

We are delighted to be able to offer 3 copies of The Medici Murders by David Hewson, mystery set in VENICE.

Worldwide entries welcomed!

3 copies of The Medici Murders by David Hewson

When a well-known British TV historian, Marmaduke Godolphin, is found murdered in the canals of Venice during carnival, stabbed by a stiletto blade, the Venetian police are eager to have the case solved and cleared up within a day – murder is bad for tourism!

The police recruit the help of retired archivist, Arnold Clover. Godolphin had hired his services on arriving in Venice to help sort through some historical papers of note. These dusty documents may contain previously unknown information about the assassination of the murderer, Lorenzino de’ Medici, 500 years previously.

How coincidental that Godolphin meets his death in the same place as the Medici murderer, Lorenzino, on a cold, dark, bloody night. Can Arnold use his powers of perception to establish a link and solve the murder of Godolphin?

This is SUCH a great read, and especially good on Venice (move over Donna Leon!) that we want as many people to be in with having a chance of winning a copy. The giveaway ends on Saturday, 1st October 2022

So here are all the ways you can enter – 3 winners will be chosen at random from entries here and across Social Media. You may enter once in each place:

Have good walking shoes for the many bridges and steps and when you want a coffee or something to eat, wander from St Mark’s Square to the back streets where everything is much cheaper! Though it is, of course, always nice to have a Bellini cocktail near the Rialto!

I’d love a romantic adult visit to Venice as the last time we went 15 years ago we had two toddlers both in buggies. We spent most of our time trying to stop our two year old from going swimming in the canals and there are so many steps across the many bridges. We did fall in love with Venice and vowed to return as a couple once the children have flown the nest!

I would love to go to Murano (for the glass), Burano (just to see the vivid colours of the houses), The Bridge of Sighs is a must as is The Basilica of St Marco and The Doge’s Palace. I had better stop now but not before I enjoy the best gelato in Venice from Suso’s.

We only got to visit Venice once, and that was part of an organised trip, so we only ended up with a couple of hours there.

Managed to get a look around the Muran Glass shop but would love to do the factory tour.

St Mark’s Square really deserved more than the whistle stop visit we crammed in.

The canal side artists also fascinated us, and I would love to have spent a little more time watching them work.

A second visit is turning into a must now that I see my wish list growing! 🙂

Venice has so much to offer but a must is a Gondola ride to get you in the romantic mood and then St Mark’s Square with its wonderful perspective of 12th century buildings and Canal views, a photographer’s delight. If there is time, a boat trip to Murano where you can visit the glass blowing factory and see how the exquisite world-renowned glass is made.

I love Venice, I have lived there for a while so I know it inside out; however, I’d love to explore the mysterious and spooky island of Poveglia in the venetian lagoon, I’ve never had the chance to see it..

I would like to see sights such as the Rialto Bridge whilst travelling along the Grand Canal on a gondola

I would love to see St. Marks Basilica, it is so beautiful that I’d love to admire the architecture close up.

I would just love to walk around in Venice and take it all in. A place I must go one day!

What I loved to see in Venice??
    Marco Polo’s house.
I was giddy. Aged 7 I did a class project on Marco Polo and have been in awe ever since.
My husband arranged via a local walking tour guide for my 50th birthday ( 20 years ago).
    Amazing.

I’m fortunate enough to have visited beautiful Venice , so the first thing I’d do upon visiting again , is head to Harry’ Bar , and order a Bellini . . .
