GIVEAWAY – 5 copies of The Hurtle of Hell set on the Canary Islands

12th August 2018

We are delighted to offer you 5 copies of The Hurtle of Hell by Simon Edge set on the Canary Islands!

5 copies of The Hurtle of Hell

Gay, pleasure-seeking Stefano Cartwright is almost killed by a wave on a holiday beach. His journey up a tunnel of light convinces him that God exists after all, and he may need to change his ways if he is not to end up in hell.

When God happens to look down his celestial telescope and see Stefano, he is obliged to pay unprecedented attention to an obscure planet in a distant galaxy, and ends up on the greatest adventure of his multi-aeon existence.

The Hurtle of Hell combines a tender, human story of rejection and reconnection with an utterly original and often very funny theological thought-experiment. It is an entrancing fable that is both mischievous and big-hearted.

Just let us know your thoughts on the Canary Islands below – have you been, have you got top tips, would you like to visit?

Cycled up Mount Tiede each day on 2 cycling holidays on Tenerife.. It’s a tough slog up but after a day riding around the crater, it’s a great descent to finish your ride. Fuerteventura is as windy as the travel guides all say – but great moonscape like scenery on parts of the coast..

My wife has sung the praises of La Gomera all our married life. She visited there a couple of times during a previous relationship, but although she loved it, they never really got out of the jeep and ‘off the beaten track.’

Thanks for the great #TalkingLocationWith piece, and Simon’s book certainly sounds original! Time to explore La Gomera myself – with Gill – and to get under the skin of this lesser known and visited Canary.

We’re thinking of going to one of the islands this winter. The book looks interesting and I hope I win a copy to read in advance.

I’ve never visited the Canary Islands, not sure why. I used to love winter sun island holidays.
The Hurtle of Hell sounds quite original and very entertaining.

I’ve never visited any of the Canary Islands- There’s so much of the world to see! The next best thing is to read about them and listen to others who have been.

I’ve been to Gran Canaria, Lanzarote and Tenerife. In Lanzarote I’d recommend Timanfaya and the Cesar Manrique house, Tenerife we loved Siam Park and in Gran Canaria I was so young I need to go back and revisit to know what’s best to visit! Xxx

Visited Gran Canaria in 1999 and Tenerife last year. I enjoyed both places. Different atmosphere and great sea side.

This looks a fun read! I have been to Gran Canaria, Fuerteventura & Lanzarote & enjoyed them all, particularly Fuerteventura.
I used to go in the February half term, when my body would be crying out for Vitamin D…the Canary Isles would supply that, some wild seas & a strong wind!
I would love to visit Tenerife & La Gomera sometime, too! 🙂
