GIVEAWAY: 5 copies of “The Well of Ice” by Andrea Carter, set Co Donegal

7th May 2018

With thanks to Piatkus, Constable & Robinson (Little Brown), we have 5 copies of The Well of Ice by Andrea Carter in our giveaway!

Well of Ice

It’s a terrific series, led by female solicitor Ben O’Keefe and is so much greater because of its Irish setting. Set in the Inishowen peninsula, in County Donegal, which includes Ireland’s most northerly point and is surrounded by the Atlantic Ocean, the book excels in re-creating the enclosed, cloistered confines of a small, rural Irish Village (the kind where everyone knows everyone) – which the Sunday Times said proves a ‘fine stand-in for the mannered drawing room society of a Christie mystery’.

The Irish Times calls the book “atmospheric and vivid“…..Find out for yourself…

HOW TO ENTER: Just leave a comment below about Ireland and all things Irish by midnight (UK time) on Saturday 19th May 2018 (where have you been, where would you like to visit, is Guinness your tipple, perhaps ..??). The first five names out of the hat will be sent a copy direct from the publisher.

UK ENTRIES ONLY. CLOSES MIDNIGHT 19th MAY. Good luck!

My only visit to Ireland was for a cookery weekend out in the countryside. It was brilliant but I would love to go back and see much more of the country

I have only ever been to enniskillen, my brother got married there. Unfortunately didn’t get to see much more of the country, just the bit we drove through from the airport. Would love to go back some day

I have only been to Belfast and was surprised how much I loved it. I Particularly enjoyed the Ulster fry! Maybe I will visit one day as I love the books set in Dublin and it sounds beautiful.

My father (or daddy as they say in Donegal ) is from inishowen . Its pne if the most beautiful places i know .I’ve had many happy holidays there every year, spending time with my family and Irish friends, particularly 2 lovely girls, Tara and Denise. Sadly my father is too unwell to visit and my uncle has recently passed away where we stayed but I’m sure reading this with evoke memories…and inspire me to enjoy another visit. My father lives in the Sunny South East of Ireland so I do still get to enjoy the craic in this gorgeous country

Despite being part Irish I have yet to visit the Emerald Isle. When I do go I need to see whether Irish Guinness really does taste different to what I’ve drank previously.

Only been to Ireland once, some years ago and that was on the south coast for a few days. Unfortunately I wasn’t well at the time so didn’t get to see the beauty of Ireland. Love to go and take in all it has to offer.

Ive never been to Ireland but i would love to go someday. I have however met Irelands most famous son, Terry Wogan off a plane – he was adorable! Ive read all of Adrian McKintys books and love the grittyness of Northern Ireland and i would love to go to Belfast. But then you have the sweet countryside and soft lilt of the Southerners, wonderful Country.

I live in northern Ireland and despite traveling all over the world, Donegal is my favourite place in the world, especially Derrybeg. As soon as Errigal mountain comes into sight, I totally relax because I’m back to my spiritual home.

Not been to Ireland YET. My Dad’s family are from southern Ireland so it’s near the top of my list to visit shortly.

We had a wonderful evening in Clifden. My husband still teases me about it. Had oysters for the first time washed down with some Guinness – I wouldn’t share. Well he should have ordered oysters if he wanted some. Then we went to a pub with a band playing traditional Irish music. Fantastic night.

I would love to go on a horse riding holiday in Ireland, there are some stables in County Wicklow that I can’t stop looking at! Plus the accent… James Nesbitt springs to mind lol! Fingers crossed, liked and shared

Dublin is my favourite Irish city to visit, as it’s compact & there’s so much to see & do there.
Bewley’s cafe is my first stop for a latte & a wedge of cake! 🙂

Visited Downhill in Derry before I started my family history reasearch and discovered a picture of a row of cottages we had seen during our visit but taken nearly 100 years earlier.

I’ve read one of the books in this series so fingers crossed! My Irish fact – when researching my family history, I discovered many ancestors from Ireland which I didn’t know about. My 3x great grandfather is from Drumshanbo in Leitrim and someday I’d love to go there.
