GIVEAWAY! – a copy of “Three Women” by Lisa Taddeo plus a Marco Polo journal

28th June 2020

WIN a copy of “Three Women” by Lisa Taddeo PLUS a Marco Polo journal!

Three Women by Lisa Taddeo is the study of the lives of three women in Rhode Island, North Dakota and Indiana.

The book plus the Marco Polo ‘write in’ travel journal

All Lina wanted was to be desired. How did she end up in a marriage with two children and a husband who wouldn’t touch her?

All Maggie wanted was to be understood. How did she end up in a relationship with her teacher and then in court, a hated pariah in her small town?

All Sloane wanted was to be admired. How did she end up a sexual object of men, including her husband, who liked to watch her have sex with other men and women?

Three Women is a record of unmet needs, unspoken thoughts, disappointments, hopes and unrelenting obsessions.

Read our review here!

If you are comfortable with scenes of a sexual nature – and reading this will not make you a prurient voyeur – then I think it is a compelling read. In a Guardian interview 28.2.20, author Marian Keyes says “At the moment, I’m giving every woman I’ve ever met Three Women by Lisa Taddeo. To read women articulating their sexual desire in such an honest, carnal way is refreshing and empowering”.

I would pass round The Giver of Stars by JoJo Moyes to every woman I know. It gives a real insight into the importance of education for all.

” The Little Paris Bookshop” by Nina George is a book I discovered and read during lockdown. I have already lent my copy to my son and granddaughter . She has just graduated with a first in creative writing so should appreciate the magic! I have talked about it to everyone I have spoken to recently on the phone and will select Nina George as an author to read in my book group when we meet again.

Oh my goodness, so many wonderful books out there, where would you start?
But, as I am reading a book of his at the moment, & because I often recommend it, I would say Bryce Courtenay’s The Power of One.
A semi-autobiographical account of Courtenay’s tough childhood growing up in South Africa & how he got through with support from his black boxing coach, it is so inspirational!
