Out Of Her Depth by Lizzy Barber
There are summers that could change your life.
There are summers that could end it.
Meet Rachel.
An unassuming young woman from a quiet London suburb.
Picture the scene:
A summer job at the beautiful Villa Medici in the Tuscan hills.
A group of glamorous teenagers, used to a life of privilege.
Lavish parties, heady sun-soaked days, backstabbing and bedhopping.
Until someone goes too far.
And nothing will ever be the same.

Oh, the food! Amazing pasta, delicious gelato. Can’t wait to go back.
San Gimignano in Tuscany is beautiful. I’d love to visit Siena in future.
I’ve never been to Italy but I fancy going to Florence.
We loved Venice but actually we’ve loved everywhere we’ve been in Italy Murano is right up there in terms of beauty and romance.
I have never been to Italy, but have long wanted to visit, particularly Tuscany. I have wanted to visit Florence since I was a teenager.
Been to Italy couple of times, but never to Tuscany
I’ve never been to Tuscany but it sounds like a beautiful place.
I’d love to go to Italy as I’ve not been before!
Love to visit tuscany – I d love to see Florence in all its splendour too
We’d love to visit Florence, we ran out of time
I think the most romantic film I have ever seen is Far from the Madding Crowd (the Julie Christie/Terence Stamp version)
I would love to visit Tuscany, it is somewhere I have yet to go. I wouldalso love to visit Florence Cathedral, Cattedrale di Santa Maria del Fiore.
I love a good thriller and have just read Inferno by Dan Brown so I would love to go to Florence to see some of the sights he wrote about!
I am enchanted by the beauty and romance of architecture as well as scenery. Bruges stole my heart when I visited a few yers ago. I hope to return to explore it more one day soon. Austria and Switzerland are also beautiful with unique architecture and lots of red geraniums in summer. Delightful!
I think the most romantic place in the world is Venice. I have been there twice and it is a great place for couples.
I would love to visit Japan because there is so much diversity: Bustling cities and beautiful quiet temples, it would be amazing!
The wonders of Florence will long live in the memory with so much culture and fine architecture and art. Love to return one day.
Tuscany has some great small(ish) towns which are well worth visiting in addition to Florence and Siena. Lucca, Arezzo and Cortona are particularly lovely and often less touristy. I haven’t yet been to the Tuscan coast so am hoping to get there soon.
I have always loved Italy but never been to Tuscany but would love to go there with my camera
I have never visited Tuscany but I think Rhodes is a very romantic place
I have been to Florence before and I absolutely loved it! The city is so full of beauty and art! The food is fantastic too!
I would to visit vineyards and olive groves – some of m favourite food/drink.
I’d really like to visit Florence
I’ve never been but would love a foodie tour, the pasta and cakes look amazing x
I’ve never visited Italy, it’s my dream to go, I’d definitely love to explore the coast
I haven’t been but would love to go to Tuscany 🙂
Florence sounds good. It looks a wonderful place. Some of the tuscan walled cities look good as well.
Tuscany is a beautiful location, it looks very romantic, beautiful scenery, stunning buildings and warm nights, I would love to visit one day.
I’ve never been to Tuscany but would love to visit the vineyards and olive groves especially- I’m more into scenic views than the art and history of cities and towns these days. In terms of the most romantic place, I’m not sure I’ve been anywhere overly romantic. I’ve been to Paris but perhaps I was doing it wrong!! But I do love a romantic sunset stroll along a beach or early morning alongside a Scottish loch…
I’ve love to go on a walking and wine tasting holiday in Tuscany
Oh love Italy but never been to Tuscany. Love Lake Garda especially beautiful Riva
I’d like to visit Tuscany!
Never been to Tuscany, but Florence would be top of my list
have never been to Tuscany but would love to experience the scenery and the food
I’d love to visit Florence and take in all the culture.
This looks very intriguing.
We’ve never been to Tuscany, but it all sounds gorgeous, white villas, olive trees, great views…
I’d like to visit the Uffizi Gallery in Florence.
I would love to go wine tasting in the hills of Tuscany!
ive always wanted to visit Venice,
The most romantic place in the world? The amalfi coast line. Food, people, scenery.. its magical
I’m off to visit Florence next year to especially visit the Duomo cathedral and the bell tower Giotto. Can’t wait
I’ve never been but I would love to visit the Tuscany coast.
We love Florence – nothing better than strolling around the city and stopping for a drink in one of the beautiful squares to watch the world go by
I love Italian culture & food & have visited several places in Italy including Rome, Venice, Bologna, Sorrento & Naples but I would love to holiday in Florence or on the Amalfi Coast, which look absolutely amazing & the ideal place for a romantic holiday
Definitely Florence, I would like to visit the Uffizi.
Oh to visit the Tuscan vineyards once again. So peaceful and tranquil and very beautiful. For me Italy is such a romantic place, if your in the country a must to visit would be Florence and Pisa. Breathtaking architecture/scenery and the cuisine so delicious.
The Tuscan food is hard to beat so I would suggest a lovely restaurant
I would love to visit Italy, I haven’t had the pleasure yet, but Venice, Tuscany and Rome are on my list, such a romantic place seeped with history
Many think of Viareggio as a seaside town in Tuscany renowned for its carnival. There is, however, so much more to this beautiful place for those who want to explore other than just sea and sand, such as its musical and archaeological museums. The Torre Del Lago and Villa Puccini is a lovely romantic area to visit : set in beautiful lakeside surroundings, and a boat trip on the lake makes for a relaxing and scenic experience. Here you have it all, romance, beauty, culture, sun and sea, and discovery.
San Gimignano is a beautiful unspoilt mediaeval hill top town in Tuscany where time stands still and there are still lute and harp players in the narrow streets. There are lots of towers and the Piazza Della Cisterna dates back to 1287, being an underground cistern. This is a romantic place to visit and is not far from Florence with all its art. The most romantic place for me though, is the Island of Giglio, which has turquoise blue sea, pristine beaches and is part of the Tuscan National Park. There are hidden coves and lots of wildlife, wonderful for a romantic holiday for two far from the maddening crowds.
Love Tuscany, especially Florence. I have always wanted to visit San Giminiano , a very pictoresque hill town , but I haven’t been able to yet..
I’d like to return to Siena. We visited for half a day from Florence but I would have liked longer to explore more of the town
I’m off to Pisa and Florence in a couple o days for the first time! Can’t wait. we also have a wine-tasting trip to Chianti and Siena booked!
I visited Florence a few years ago and very much enjoyed my time there. It’s a place where you can truly immerse yourself in art, history and architecture.
Anywhere in Tuscany would be wonderful
Good book
There are so many beautiful romanic places in the world I would love to visit so many. I do but through reading and going on adventures there as I am unable to travel due to poor health. Tuscany sounds and looks amazing. One of the most amazing things to happen to me was a surprise mini break to Jersey where my boyfriend 21 proposed to me (I was only 17) at Mont Orgueil castle at night when it was lit up. It was beautiful. Would love to be lucky and win a copy please many thanks.
I would love to visit Tuscany, especially Pisa as a friend visited recently and the photos looked enchanting.
I would love to go to Greece it looks so beautiful and romantic
Sunflowers as they are such pretty and vibrant flowers. I feel they bring out such happiness and sunshine in a bridal arrangement.
For me it has to be Italy as the most romantic place ive ever had the pleasure of visiting.
I’d love to visit Venice again, pure magic. But anywhere in Italy would be hugged with appreciation.
Most romantic moment sitting with soon to be boyfriend (slightly breathless with the newness, anticipation) balmy night in Southern California, sitting on the porch, listening to trains passing through the night.
We have been to the Amalfi Coast and found it breathtaking. Florence is top of my wish list in Italy, such a beautiful city with amazing architecture. Saw it recently on Stanley Tucci’s Searching Italy, makes me want to go even more!
I should really love to visit Florence and absorb the warmth and culture.
My favourite memory is our cruise to the Mediterranean and arriving in Venice to the sounds of the Three Tenors. It was skin tingling!!
Love Italy And have been lucky enough to go 3 times . Would love to take my partner to Rome and Florence
The most romantic thing that happened to me was meeting my husband to be whilst I was on a cruise of the Med. We subsequently married and were lucky enough to go on a rail tour of Italy. Florence was one of the highlights of the trip although Rome and Venice were wonderful too. One of my favourite memories was seeing a group of tourists on segways!
I have been to Naples and Sorrento but I would love to visit Rome
I wouldn’t mind whereabouts in Tuscany I went or what sights I visited just so long as I could have pasta for every meal, cooked by people who know how to do it perfectly!
I’d love to eat street food in Firenze, washed down with Chianti.
Being a bit of a stranger to romance myself, I would have to choose a romantic film I have seen instead & that would have to be Love Story. A group of friends and I went to see it, aged about 13, & we all sat sobbing our hearts out!
I much prefer holidays by the sea to inland, so if I were holidaying in Tuscany, I would do lots of day trips to the coast!
This book sounds very intriguing!
I did a cookery course in Tuscany about 20 years ago, it was brilliant. My top tip is when visiting any of the touristy towns and cities, move away from the main streets and explore the back streets and alleyways, where you’ll find glorious unexpected views peeking between the houses, beautiful window boxes and hanging baskets, and little cafes and bars charging a fraction of the tourist prices
Read a great non-fiction book on Tuscany years ago, loved it, can’t remember the title though I’ve searched for a long time! Had great description of the food!
