Giveaway – two books set in Sicily!
14th July 2019
Are you thinking of a holiday to Sicily?
Then you need these two books!
- The new Marco Polo SICILY guide book
- My Lemon Grove Summer by Jo Thomas, set on the island and beautifully evocative!
Could the lemon groves of Sicily be the perfect place to start over? The irresistible new novel from Jo Thomas, the author of Sunset Over the Cherry Orchard, will transport you to the island of mountains and sparkling blue seas.
When life hands you lemons … is it ever too late for a second chance?
Zelda’s impulsive nature has got her precisely nowhere up until now. A fresh start in a beautiful hilltop town in Sicily looking for new residents, together with her best friend Lennie, could be just what she needs. And who better to settle down with than the person who knows her best?
But the sun-filled skies and sparkling seas can’t hide the shadow hanging over Citta d’Ora, which means not everyone is pleased to see their arrival. The dreams Zelda and her fellow new residents had of setting up a new life might be slipping away. But a friendship with restauranteur Luca could be about to unlock the possibilities that lie in the local lemon groves. And there’s a wedding on the horizon that might be just what the town needs to turn it around…

The cherry orchard sounds gorgeous!
Mount Etna, we went about a week after it had erupted, fantastic
Mount Etna has always fascinated me so would love to see
Punta Secca would be a must-as a huge fan of the late Andrea Camilleri I’d love to visit fictional ‘Marinella’ filmed there. Ragusa and all the amazing baroque buildings, followed by a lazy coastal village lunch!
I have never been to Sicily before but would love to visit this wonderful Italian Island – I have heard so much about it. I would love to see the sights, take in the atmosphere, speak to the locals, take in the culture. One of the places we would love to go and visit is Cefalù Castle. Thank you for the chance to win.

Thanks for taking the time to post this comment, Claire. I’m lucky to have been to Sicily and can highly recommend Cefalu. It has real character, an old town teeming with life and a separate beach area for a more relaxed couple of hours. Good luck! TF’s Andrew
I am going to Sicily before long and would like to see Etna and Stromboli vocanoes, of course, the ruins at Agrigento and Taormina and maybe do a beach or two. Already been to Cefalu but would like to go again and also need to go to the nature reserve in Zingaro. I have 2 weeks spare and like ‘full on’ sightseeing so no doubt will also do lots more. I am also very much looking forward to the cuisine!
How authentic arancini are made.
I’d love to the gorgeous coastlines!
Would love to just potter around small villages soaking up the atmosphere.
I would love to see the houses and the historical landmarks that this amazing island has to offer!
I’d love to see some of the historical sites such as Agrigento Valley of the Temples, the Roman theatre of Taormina or the Baroque cities of Noto, Ragusa and Modica. The delicious food would be a big attraction, too.
I would love to see Lemon trees!
I’ve never been but I’d love to go. The Valley of the Temples looks amazing but really I’d just love to go to soak up the sun, the scenery and sample the fabulous food and drink!
Would love to visit one day to see where my ancestors came from.
This beautiful Island is on my bucket list. I’ve never been but everything about it is so appealing. I’d love to see the wonderful coastline, views, find out about it’s history and the local people and of course enjoy their glorious the weather.
I have never been but would love to see the Doric-style Greek temples.

I’ve been living in Ortigia for two years. This is such a beautiful place; history is dancing with the sea, people’s warmth is like the sun and of course incredibly delicious food. I invite everyone here !
for me, I would love to stroll through the little villages and the markets they have there, before visiting the local coastline
I have never been to Sicily. I have read books set there though, and they really made me want to try the food!
I’ve never been but I’d love to visit Valley of the Temples, and the Byzantine mosaics , I watched a TV programme and have wanted to go ever since
I fell in love 1987 when I was first time in Sicily, Giardini Naxos.
That is a place where I go back all the time
I have been there now 36 times.
Every time I also visit Taormina.
Waiting for next time 21.9.2019
I love Sicily. I always stay in Giardini Naxos, the beach town below Taormina. Giardini Naxos has a train station and Taormina has buses that will take you to cities on the eastern side of the island, plus many tours.
I’ve never been but it is on my wishlist. I would love the guidebook to figure out what I need to see. I know I want to enjoy the lovely food and the gorgeous buildings.
I’d love to visit the historic centre of Palermo which is now a UNESCO site.
I’d love to go and see medieval Erice, but near Messina, on the way to Taormina, there is a hidden gem in the gorgeous countryside you should not miss: the
San Pietro e Paolo di Casalvecchio Siculo 12th century fortress/church. It is characterized by a mix of Byzantine, Arab and Norman styles, and yes you can go inside to admire the ancient columns and domes. No tourists at all!
Vineyards!
I’d love to see Mount Etna!
I’ve never been but it is on my list of places I would love to visit. To read these would help me know what to look out for when I eventually get there.
