A strong portrayal of the island of Lanzarote

  • Book: The Drago Tree
  • Location: Lanzarote

I bought this to read before my first visit to the island and was very glad I had. The author brings the place to life so vividly with a combination of description and cultural background that greatly enhanced my stay. The story is fine – a romance with a heroine who has come to the island after the break up of a disastrous marriage to find some peace to reassess things. Inevitably, her love life only becomes more complicated. It’s not the romance, however, that is, in my opinion, the strength of the book, it’s the depth of evocation of the setting.
