If you’re going to read one book this year, read this.
- Book: The Librarian of Auschwitz
- Location: Auschwitz/Birkenau
- Author: Antonio Iturbe
An incredible book, I read it in just 2 days and really couldn’t put it down – and I haven’t stopped thinking about it since. A true story (although the names are changed a little) I could hardly believe that such a beautiful (if not horrific and scary) story could possibly come from a place like Auschwitz. That hope can come from things we seem to take for granted (potato skins, a cm of soap and a clove of garlic) puts things into a little perspective. The story itself is wonderfully researched and written, and the translation is great. I thoroughly thoroughly recommend this book to all. Beautiful.
