Review Author: tripfiction

From London to Kuala Lumpur, New York to Cologne, this is a coming-of-age story that captures some of the vignettes in everyday life, acknowledges the impact of love and experiences, all rather beautifully observed.

Ming, a student from Malaysia, meets Tom at University. They are both gay, but Tom is struggling with personal issues – he is in a relationship with a woman but recognises his increasing attraction to Ming. Ming struggles with a degree of body dysmorphia and decides to transition, leaving Tom unsettled by the path Ming has decided to take…

This is a story is of early adult emotions, decisions and mistakes, tenderly told, as two people from different backgrounds navigate their way through life.

Overwritten on occasion, it is nevertheless an insightful and atmospheric novel and I will be interested to see what this debut author tackles next.
