15th September 2019
Win a hardback copy of The Peacock Summer by Hannah Richell, set in the beautiful Chilterns.
Hidden deep in the dusty wing of an old manor house stands a locked room, forgotten by all – except one. Sixty years ago Lillian Oberon was mistress of Cloudesley, until one glittering summer, when a doomed love affair changed her life forever.
Now frail and muddled, Lillian is the sole guardian of Cloudesley, and of its dark secrets. Only when Maggie, her devoted granddaughter, returns to nurse her – and her own heartbreak – do the walls of the past begin to crumble, threatening to bring the tragic consequences of that summer to light…
Can Maggie unlock her family’s tangled history, before all she holds dear is lost forever?

Sarah B’s name came out of the hat!!!
We have a small garden but have lots of birds and my favourite is a robin that is so tame
Robins, as they remind me of my grandad! When I used to help him in the garden, we always saw a little robin.
I love the Chilterns!
Owls – hearing them, never seeing them!
I love seeing robins in the winter 🙂
I love the sound of the woodpeckers!
My favorite bird that visits our garden is the hummingbird. We also have many others that visit. Sadly, I’m not sure what some of them are other than the magpies and mourning doves.
I love to see the robin – so cheerful
I love cardinals. Their vibrant color against the green and brown is always cheerful.
I have a pair of Rosellas that feed from the seeds of my pepper tree and I am hopeful that in a few months there might be babies to join them. I love the wonderful colours of their feathers.
this looks like a great read! Followed on twitter as @ruth120067 and crossing my fingers!!
I love to watch the small birds at the feeding stations in my garden. The agile bluetits, pretty finches, & the cheeky robin that watches me through the window until I take him his snacks.
I love our little blue wrens, they are so cute!
I like the Robin. They often build nests in our grapes.
Give me a spuggy anytime with perhaps a robin at Christmas
I see robins, blackbirds, magpies and jays daily in my garden. Robins are probably my favourite – because they follow me round whilst I’m gardening hoping to find worms.
This looks like a fabulous read 🙂

We love to see woodpeckers at our bird feeders
I like the woodpeckers that visit our nuts and the little nuthatches.
Definitely robins. Our children were brought up believing that the robins were checking on their behaviour over the year for Father Christmas.
Love peacocks even though they are meant to be unlucky. I have two flamingo ornaments in my garden that always cheer me up.

I love to see Robins in my garden as they were my Mum’s favourite bird & when I see one, I feel as if I’m getting an avian email from her!
There are peacocks in the grounds of Newstead Abbey which is where Lord Byron lived and loved! They are very noisy!
We have a little Robin that’s with us most of the year.we have some blackbirds too.
Jays! We get one on rare occasions but it is so beautiful on our bird bath.

I most like seeing the woodpeckers in our garden
I love to see the shyer birds like wrens, nuthatches, jays and woodpeckers because it feels like such a privilege when they come into the garden. And although they aren’t shy at all, I love seeing families of goldfinches feasting on the seedheads in the flower beds. We never dead head seeding flowers any more because the goldfinches enjoy them so much.
I always love to see Robins in my garden x
Sparrows in South London suburbia – so delicate and detest bullying magpie’s
Roadrunners! We see them in the garden all the time!
Wood Pigeons
A robin in the snow at Christmas ⛄️
Love seeing Magpies in my garden, especially when there are a few and they warble to each other
