Having missed out on a promotion and fed up with her London life, Annie MacDonald decides to go travelling. Longing for adventure, she decides to follow in her grandfather’s footsteps and heads for Pakistan.

Matt Peterson also travels to Pakistan, where he and his fiancee would have spent their honeymoon, had she not died in an unfortunate accident.

It does not take long before the itineraries of Annie and Matt meet and, somewhat reluctantly, they continue their journey together. Neither Annie nor Matt are experienced travellers, and as they clumsily make their way through Pakistan, danger indeed lurks behind every corner. More in particular, a criminal called Raseem Hasni is after them.

I enjoyed the first part of this novel, where the characters of Annie and Matt are introduced and the scents and sounds of Pakistan really come to life. Especially the early adventures of Annie in Pakistan grabbed my attention. The wild goose chase which takes up the second half of the book failed however to draw me in.
