By the end of this book, I found myself charmed by the twists in the tale of Daniel’s time in West Africa. At other points the descriptions of the main, and peripheral, characters, had verged on cliches, but as the author had spent part of her career as a volunteer in West Africa, I was willing to go along with the idea that perhaps the cliches were in fact grounded in reality.
The use of the postcards throughout the story worked well, making the reader wonder quite why they were included, until the explanation came later on.
Well structured and easy to read, I’d recommend this to others.
