Although I’m not a surfer, nor a mother, I loved this book! In reading it, I felt like I wanted to be Wilma Johnson, the adventurous author that assembled a treasure chest of tales in this memoir. I admire her spirit and zest for life–I felt myself standing right up there on the surfboard along with her. I found the book to be very well written and chockfull of wondrous details of Wilma’s life in Ireland and Biarritz. In her prose, she creates a strong sense of place that evokes the wild beauty, culture and allure of these two rather disparate destinations. I hope to meet Wilma some day, perhaps in a café near Biarritz or a pub in Ireland.
