Never did the path of true love run smoothly and this, of course, is no exception!

IMG_0918Ellen and her younger stepsister Lacey spend a week in the all-inclusive Blue Vue Hotel (based on the Mareblue Beach Hotel in Agios Spyridon, Corfu, one of Mandy’s favourite all-time hotels). Lacey is there to plan her wedding to Mark, this is the ultimate in dreamy and romantic locations. As the two sisters get into their holiday rhythm, the planning loses its priority, and the animators who provide the hotel entertainment and activities, are definitely more of a star attraction.

Sensible older sibling Ellen is looking out for all the pitfalls that Lacey inevitably wades into, but soon Ellen herself is having her head turned by the stunning, muscular, toned and tanned Yan, a native of Bulgaria with a few secrets up his (well, let’s be honest, non-existent) sleeve. He is gentle and thoughtful, but both Ellen and Yan have to contend with innumerable crossed wires. Ellen too, it transpires, has a rather big secret that is just waiting to pop out…

Meanwhile Lacey is having real doubts about her nuptials, she is after all only 23, and hasn’t really seen much of life. But Dad, Al, is super protective of her and thinks that she and Mark make a good match and exerts his own inimitable pressure on his youngest daughter.

The book is firmly set on Corfu, whether it is looking up at Pantokrator – “two thousand, nine hundred  and seventy-two feet of solid rock..” or gazing across the water at the twinkling lights of Albania, watching the cruise ships ploughing past… It is redolent of all things Greece, the olive groves, yummy dolmades, ouzo, and best of all are the Apricot Coolers.

Lots of longing looks and miscommunication make for a romantic romp in Corfu. Enjoy!
