The author writes really well about Paris, describes how she tries to integrate into a new culture. She visits Dehillerin, a cook shop, and her Mother battles to get the pan she wants – we too went there and had to battle for the knife I wanted, because I was going to use it for the wrong process! I so totally got where Elizabeth was coming from. Beautifully observed – couldn’t fully get some of the American references, but that didn’t blight my enjoyment
