This novel has a promising beginning

This novel has a promising beginning, however for the next good third began to flag a little. The author’s picture of the father is that of a long lost generation, I think. Nevertheless, I found him to be extremely interesting. This also goes for the description of a long gone submissive Mother. (I wondered how two people like that every managed to produce children…)
The following part of the book is when it really picks up. There are some good surprises coming which are well worth waiting for and I would recommend it.
