This book is well written and holds one’s attention. The yes’s and no’s whether the little girl, Jamie, is still alive remind me of a tennis match, back and forth: is she alive? Isn’t she alive? The story makes one turn the pages simply to get to the bottom of the plot. How far a person can be driven by ambition and vanity, indeed to utter callousness towards human life as is shown as the story unfolds. A bit more character definition – psychological insight into many of the characters and why they do the things that they do – would have added extra depth.
