I really enjoyed this book. The story was compelling and kept me interested. The stories of growing up in a pre-war Afghanistan were beautifully written and certainly made you feel sad for what’s been lost since the conflicts began.

I liked reading about the cultures and ways of the people. All too often all we hear about is the fighting and it’s easy to forget about the simple ways of life behind the headlines.
