  • Just tell us which is your favourite character from Greek mythology! Is it maybe Jean’s favourite, Dionysus (god of wine!) or Aphoridite (goddess of love and called Venus by the Romans); or maybe Eris (goddess of discord, seems about right for 2020)… Share your choice in the COMMENTS below by midnight, Saturday, 17th October 2020. First name out of the hat!

    Hephaestus (the god of blacksmiths and fire), who had his forge located at Mount Etna (visited on today’s Giro d’Italia), which was said to erupt when he was crafting new weapons for the gods.

    My favorite is Athena. Not only was she the Olympian goddess of wisdom and war (not sure how the two go hand in hand but hey ho), but also she was credited with breathing life into man when Prometheus created man.

    I would like to be Icarus, as I have always been drawn to the idea of being able to fly in a self-propelled manner!
    I know Icarus met with a sticky end, but perhaps he felt it was worthwhile for those few minutes (seconds?) of joyous flight towards the sun?
