GIVEAWAY: 3 copies of Those Hamilton Sisters set in QUEENSLAND
14th November 2021
We are delighted to offer 3 copies of Those Hamilton Sisters by Averil Kenny, set in Queensland, Australia.
‘This is truly masterful writing – so much so that it’s hard to believe it is a debut novel’ (TripFiction Review)

Open UK only
A warm, captivating and irresistible story of love, family, secrets and finding your place in the world. For readers of Lucinda Riley and Kate Morton.
Esther Hamilton had a reputation in the small Queensland town of Noah Vale. That was until she ran away, twenty years ago, under a cloud of shame. It is now 1955 and following her death, her daughters, the Hamilton sisters, have come to make the town their home.
Sonnet, at twenty years old, has never set foot in Noah Vale, but has been the talk of the town for decades. Fable is a budding artist and lovelier even than her heartbreaking mother. And Plum is just a little girl who has been taken away from the only home she has ever known.
As the years pass the girls settle into their new life. But suspicion and judgement follow them wherever they go. In a small town where everyone knows each other, it can be hard to escape the past

I would love to see Ayres Rock / Uluru .. have just finished The Pearl Sister by Lucinda Riley..Australia is so fascinating
Hello, I would like to see some of the wildlife in Australia, like Koalas and Kangaroos.
I’d love to go to Sydney, and experience the city. It’s always been a fascination for me!
I have never been to Australia so I’d love to visit all of it. I know it is a very big country so it would turn out to be a very long trip.
I have never been to Australia and would absolutely love to go! I would love to see the Great Barrier Reef, and go to Fraser Island.
I would love to visit Australia. I would have to visit Ramsay Street as I was a big Neighbours fan back in the day.
I would love to visit Australia! My aunt and cousins emigrated 40 years ago and it would be fab to go visit them
In 1968 as a newly qualified teacher I dreamed of teaching in Australia when I had done my probationary year. Two weeks after leaving college I was set up with a blind date with someone who would teach a penniless student to drive. He turned out to be the man of my dreams and we were engaged within a month and married a year later. 53 years on, he is still the love of my life so no regrets but I still have a hankering to visit Australia!
I’d love to travel across the country in a camper van
I’d love to drive all around the coast – I know it would take a really long time, but wow it would be so worth it!
I’d love to visit the glorious beaches, tho’ I’m nervous swimming in open water after being traumatised by Jaws! LOL!
We spent a month travelling in Australia. There was so much to see and do. We were on the highway in WA when we had a rollover accident. Everyone was fine, but I have always wanted to go back and see what we missed.
I’ve never been but would love to go and see something at Sydney Opera House.
I have never been to Australia but I would love to! I have some family and friends there so mainly I would like to see them 🙂
I have never been there yet but would love to visit one day
I’d love to drive from Sydney up to the Gold Coast to take in all the coastal towns and beaches
I have never been there but I’d love to experience the different climate for sure!
I would love to go to Sydney and see all the sights
Never been but it would be amazing! Love to go to Sydney and climb the harbour bridge, it must be amazing
Melbourne for me. Have never been but people say its great.
I would love to tour Australia because it is so diverse and I have friends and relations living in different areas there. Ayers Rock would be my first ‘must see.’
I’d love to visit the Sydney Opera House, such an iconic landmark that I’d love to see inside.
I would love to go to the Australia Zoo. I bet it would be an amazing experience.
I’d love to see the opera house as my uncle who passed away a couple of years ago worked his whole life there.
would love to see the great barrier reef and all the colourful fish and then tour round the coast of southern australia experiencing all the different foods, places and animals and birds
Would love to see the Great Barrier Reef before it vanishes
I’d love to go to Sydney to see my half sister and her baby daughter as they live out there now.
Don’t do what I did and think the cost of entry to The Opera House was too much and refuse to pay it. Regretted it for years and finally visited it went back to Oz on a return trip. Could have gone in a hundred times for the cost of the second flight!
I’ve never been but my daughter has and from photos I’d love to see Sidney harbour
I loved Tasmania, the views, the food, the markets, and then the ease of getting to Bruny Island, watching the fairy penguins come in at dusk, the sunsets, the sunrises, just beautiful
Don’t get carried away, this is a big country and the idea of seeing it all would take more than most of us could afford so work out just what you want to see and plan it on a map, a road trip sounds wonderful but with no disrespect some of it is very boring and with limited fuel and water you do need to make sure you have everything covered. Also remember that it has some nasty creatures if the locals don’t go in the water there is a reason, and double check the hire car even in the city for spiders, having said all that I can’t wait to go back, Sydney is everything the guide books tell you and Perth has so much to offer not just the WACCA.
I’ve never been but I’ve been watching youtubers do Van life around Australia and they visit some beautiful places so there is a lot I would like to see.
It’s a long old trek to get there but we loved Tasmania. Incredible food and views though devastating to see the impact climate change is having.
Plan what you most want to see – you can always return again to explore more – loved Ayres rock
I’d love to visit my aunt and uncle in Brisbane and visit the Steve Irwin wildlife centre
When a very, very small (tiny!) spider jumps on you unexpectedly do not jump up and down and squeal or the whole park you’re in will laugh at you for being over dramatic!
Also visit the Royal Botanic Gardens in Sydney. A beautiful oasis in the city.
Would love to visit friends in Melbourne
I would love to travel to the Gold Coast and catch up with my goddaughter and her family.
I’ve never been to Australia but I’d love to go. My friend moved to Adelaide a few years ago and it would be so good to catch up with her and her family. I’d also love to visit some of Australia’s other big cities, particularly Melbourne and Sydney.
If I could visit Australia I would love to visit my nephew and family in Melbourne.
I would love to visit the Sapphire coast not as well known as the Gold Coast but looks amazing. Thank you, I love the look of this book and I have never read a book set in Australia.
I’ve only visited Sydney, I would love to see Tasmania
I’d love to visit the Gold Coast
I’ve never been but would love to go. Ayers Rock would be top of my list of places to visit.
I’ve never been to Australia but would love to visit. Bill Bryson’s book Down Under is very entertaining and made it sound such a fascinating place.
I have never been to Australia, although apparently my parents were considering emigrating many years ago. It is a country that has always fascinated me and I would love to visit Sydney and the surrounding areas.
I’ve never been to Australia but I’m currently reading all of Jane Harper’s fabulous books set there, so I’d love to visit the Outback!
My friend went to Australia last year and watched a joey jumping from its mothers pouch jump. I loved watching the video, it was just fabulous, so I would love to see the wonderful wildlife for myself (except the spiders of course!)
Always advise anyone to go to Perth! It’s a most beautiful city. Canberra is also worth a stay.
I am currently obsessed with the repeats on Drama of an Aussie series set in a small town in the 1950s called A Place to Call Home. It’s set in the fictional county town of Inverness in New South Wales and ideally I’d just be transported there if it existed of course! Otherwise happy to stay here and be transported by a 1950s set Aussie book!
I have family in Perth and love visiting. Freemantle prison is a great place to visit as it is supposedly haunted and of course I love holding Koalas and watching the parrots fly around the garden
I would love to visit Alice Springs, since reading ‘A Town Like Alice’ by Nevil Shute as a child.
Also Uluru, Sydney Opera House and the Great Barrier Reef.
Finally, a tour of all my friends and family members resident in Australia!
