This is a delightfully written and engrossing book, that brings to life both Ireland and the city of New York, post Black Thursday (Wall Street Crash) in 1929. The detail seems well researched and the characters are well defined, and individual. It is a crisp read, and in modern day New York one can still hear the echoes of the feet from this era. In parts fanciful, it can stretch credulity but the overall impression is one of a smooth and interesting story. What more can one want?
