Lead Review (Meet Me in Ivy Falls)
- Book: Meet Me in Ivy Falls
- Location: Tennessee
- Author: Amy True
3.5*
This romcom is set in the fictional small town of Ivy Falls – “home to 10,032 smiling faces and award-winning berry cobbler”. The novel is filled with Tennessee cozy charm and warmth, peppered with drama and upset.
Torran has a new career in house restoration, she is very principled and wants to see era-correct renovations in the town. She is now focussed on bidding for a property at 2227 Huckleberry Lane, a Colonial Revival house built in 1895. But she is pipped to the post by a ‘proxy in a suit’ who, she discovers as she is leaving the auction, is none other than her childhood sweetheart, Beck, who abandoned her without a word and disappeared. He has history associated with this particular property and he was clearly fully determined to bag it, out bidding her at every turn. But, he ponders, why was Torran interested in this particular piece of real estate?
There is, of course, much sparring and resentment as the story unfolds through alternating POVs and there is plenty of action along the way. Can reconciliation be achieved in any way?
The story includes themes that may be triggering for some.
