The Oligarch’s Daughter by Joseph Finder – a great espionage thriller set in New York and New Hampshire (with a side trip to Moscow),

A great espionage thriller set in NEW YORK and NEW HAMPSHIRE

Joseph Finer is at his brilliant best with The Oligarch’s Daughter. Set in the present day in New Hampshire and six years previously in New York and Moscow, it is the story of Paul Brightman (or Grant Anderson as he became). Six years previously, Paul was a high flyer working for a hedge fund in New York. He met, and then courted, a young photographer called Tatyana – not realising she was the daughter of an extremely rich Russian Oligarch with fingers in many pies. They got married and Paul’s life changed beyond recognition. But they did not live happily ever after… Paul, through horrendous circumstance, was forced to abandon his wife and completely change his identity. He went off grid and became a boat builder in a small New Hampshire town. Then, one day six yers later in the present, his security is blown and he has to flee his new life as well. He disappears into the forests of New Hampshire pursued by armed assailants. But who are they? His father-in-law’s bodyguards, the FBI, the CIA or GRU (the Russian security service)? Paul has something very valuable that each of them wants and will go to great lengths to secure.

The chase is epic. Paul is in great danger and suffers numerous setbacks. He lives on his wits and survives a badly damaged ankle and a gunshot wound. He has to work out who exactly is after him and who he can trust to help him. He makes some wrong decisions.

A great espionage thriller set in NEW YORK and NEW HAMPSHIREThe story moves to a pulsating climax where all is revealed. You will not be disappointed!

The locations are well described by Finder. New York, New Hampshire, and Moscow all come through loud and clear. And the acknowledgements at the end of the book show the great amount of meticulous research that Finder undertook. Three sources alone cover the life and lifestyle of oligarchs.

Definitely recommended.
