After a bungled drugs raid, DI Jordan Carr is sent to Kirkby, Liverpool, to root out a suspected mole in the force.
There he encounters DS Stella May who is tasked with following leads on a body found in a squat.
Identifying the victim will be her first challenge, the second will be stopping the death being connected to the illegal dealings of low-level criminals in the area and effectively brushed under the carpet.
Slightly at sea, Stella is drawn to an old local woman with a penchant for speaking in riddles, who seems to know more than she is letting on.
Armed with the old woman’s wisdom, or sixth sense, if she can convince Jordan Carr to take her side, Stella may just get to the bottom of a chilling mystery.
