A life of skiing, snow and sunshine in the French Alps. That was what one British couple had in mind when they gave up the 9 – 5 grind to run a ski chalet in Chamonix. With their toddler in tow, they sold everything and headed off for a better life.

But they soon realised they had swopped one grind for another, and while the view was far better from their chocolate-box chalet window, they rarely made it outdoors to enjoy it.

Endless 18 hour days, violently unpredictable weather, surly and sometimes downright bizarre clients and a season of “what could go wrong, did go wrong” combined to provide the toughest test of their nascent business ambitions.

Funny, easy reading, ideal for anyone who has ever thought of running away from it all and living the dream. Make sure you read this first!
