A Nazi paratrooper who invaded Crete in 1941 returns to the island to relive his memories of the war. He remembers the fierce fighting and the brutal repression of the partisans, but also the many parties in seaside tavernas far away from the Russian front. And he has never forgotten Irini, the proud Cretan girl he took hostage during the retreat. At the same time, the son of a RAF mechanic who had survived the savage invasion of Crete retraces his father’s footsteps with the help of his war diary. It describes his narrow escapes from death, but also his peaceful days together with Irini. Both men travel through the island, hoping to find the past. Will the two generations meet ? And will they find Irini ?
