Italian twins, GIOVANNA and NATALIA TONIOLI flee their home of Capri for the city of Bath after the family’s gelateria receives Mafia threats.
Giovanna’s new life in England couldn’t appear sweeter; her father, ANTONIO’s business is booming, she’s a successful stockbroker, and she’s dating rugby star, JEREMY KENT. Yet all is not as rosy as it seems, especially when she discovers her sister in bed with her man!
Heart and soul in tatters, Giovanna takes off on an ‘Eat Pray Love’ style tour of Italy where she ‘just happens’ to bump into Amalfi holiday waiter, PAOLO all over again: Right man, wrong time.
Back in Bath, Giovanna sets up her own gelateria with the help of culinary wiz, COUSIN MATTEO. The avant-garde parlour is smack bang opposite the family business that’s just been handed down to undeserving Natalia – turning sibling rivalry into a massive family feud. Best friend, KELLY implores Giovanna to enrol on a course of past-life regressions, and she discovers her sisterly issues have occurred in every lifetime. Forgiveness is the only way to heal the rift.
Giovanna learns the hard way that family is what you make it – and soul mates come in many guises (mainly in the shape of Ashton Kutcher lookalike Italians). Although she will never have the relationship with her family that she craves in this lifetime, she has still found true happiness – the love of her life, their own small family…and plenty of award-winning ice-cream.
