But Meredith has forgotten how to understand what it is she herself wants. Through the fog of cigarette smoke, she spots Kit Renton and just “know” that he is something special. He is, however on the brink of leaving for Barcelona where he will fight for the Spanish Republic in the Spanish Civil War. A terrible journey awaits them.
