I read this book not really expecting to review it here. Yet I think it is a very relevant read for understanding the life many of the people practising their faith in this city and therefore I think it provides a hugely insightful “background” . The Orthodox community seems so hardline, so rigorous in their demands of lifestyle, I thought it gave a really interesting (and scary) account of the traditions and laws by which this community feels it must live. How constricting that must be, how difficult for women who choose this path. I read quickly from beginning to end, it is interesting, can err on being a little self indulgent.
