Lily/Justine is madly in love with Nate & cannot accept it when Nate calls a halt on their relationship, telling her he needs “some space”.
In order to pursue him at a distance, Lily decides to train as an air hostess with the same airline where Nate works as a pilot, & calls herself by her middle name, Justine.
Throughout the novel Justine has flashbacks to her childhood, the death of her brother & the bullying she endures at boarding school.
Whether her early experiences have caused Justine not to be able to accept rejection, or whether she actually has borderline personality disorder, I’m not sure, but she will stop at nothing in order to get her man back!
She moves to a flat near to Nate’s & regularly visits when he is away, having had a key copied before the split.
When thwarted in her attempt to reunite with Nate, she goes for bust, following him & his new girlfriend on their holiday.
Disaster ensues but in the end it seems that Justine has finally got her way.
There was potential for the novel to be thrilling & scary but somehow it never quite hit the spot for me.
It was written in the first person present tense throughout which detracted somewhat from the storytelling.
I enjoyed learning the inside story about being an air hostess & the little snapshots of the various places Justine visits on her flights.
Overall, however, I found the novel a little lacking in suspense & thrills.
