An engrossing book that absorbs the reader into the world of its narrator, Raimund Gregorius, and the life, times and thoughts of its main character Amadeu Prado. The author eases the reader into a thought provoking book on the meaning of a person’s existence and their place in the world. The descriptions of Lisbon at the time of its setting as well as during the life of Prado add to the depth of the book and help put the main characters into context within the story. A book that you can either read big chunks of in one sitting or equally easily put down for a few days and then pick back up again without losing any impact of the story. Whole heartedly recommended.
