Captivating

I absolutely loved this book for several reasons. The characters are beautifully and creatively realised through description, dialogue and action; the story is engaging and evocative, and it is carefully and cleverly plotted. I know it is a cheesy, cliched comment but I really did feel that Venice was one of the main characters and this was particularly exciting for me, because I know Venice quite well and I long to return, so to be able to see the city, hear her, feel her, touch her and even smell her through the pages of David Hewson’s book was really special.
