I was captured from the very beginning. This book set in Ethiopia and then the USA has everything that you could possibly want. Complex relationships, family heartache and joy. I learned a lot about the history of Ethiopia, the fight of the Eritreans for independence and about the occupation by Mussolini. Did you know that the espresso is the coffee of choice? How fitting of a country that grows such good coffee. The language is descriptive and flows well. It was a sheer pleasure to read. The medical conditions and procedures are not for the squeamish. But when I turned the last page it left me with that feeling…. well what next? And knowing it would take something special. This book stayed with me for a long time. Yes truly captivated.
