The tale of Chloe, a Danish girl, who moves to the Isle of Man with her husband & baby boy. After describing the move & Chloe’s efforts to make new friends, the novel goes back in time to recount all Chloe’s past relationships (of which there were many!)
I’m sorry to say I found this novel (or was it in part autobiographical?) profoundly boring! Perhaps, as with Tracy Emin’s bed, one’s previous relationships should be left firmly in the past!
The most interesting parts for me were the examination of Chloe’s very lacking relationship with her narcissistic mother & the brief descriptions of her therapy sessions, following her burn-out.
