The book that catapulted Le Carré to fame – certainly not his best work, but nevertheless the book that defined the Cold War Spy genre. This book has lent inspiration, concepts and vocabulary to spy books and films ever since it was published.
You won’t recognise Checkpoint Charlie in Berlin from this book – there’s no atmosphere left in that place, but for a real taste of the tension in Berlin in the 1960s read this book!
