A classic for good reason, for its liveliness — unforgettable escapades, snappy dialogue, humor, camaraderie… just don’t take it as a guide to real events or actual people, because it’s shamelessly unhistorical. (D’Artagnan really existed and was a very interesting guy, but nothing like he’s depicted here; the “three musketeers” are completely invented; the politics, the intrigues, and the personalities of other historical characters are way off, to put it mildly.)
