You can’t fault the authentic detail, the sights, sounds, smells and flavours of Venice as captured in this novel. Nicky Pellegrino knows her stuff and as a way of getting in the mood before a trip to Venice, or reading it while you’re there this is absolutely ideal.
However I couldn’t warm to the central character and it was hard to care whether she found real fulfillment, so I’ve moved the book on to the charity shop…
