Friends, Lovers, Chocolate, by Alexander McCall Smith. Is a gripping novel from the first couple of pages. I found it hard to put down and read it within three day.

The novel itself is set in Edinburgh and is about Isabel Dalhousie as she helps a man who has had a heart transplant, come to terms with a vision he is having. I liked how Isabel kept an open mind on such matters and tried her best to bring some resolution to someone’s life. Even if at times it seemed like she found it hard to bring resolutions to her friendship with Jamie and what she really wanted from him. I also loved the friendship she had with Grace . I thought the descriptions of Edinburgh and the quotes from music and poems etc made the place sound like a place of love and culture. I really enjoyed this book and the feeling it evoked while reading it.

I thought the novel was really well written and covered an array of subjects in the story that were dealt with in a sensitive and touching way. I only wish that there would of been more about Eddy as I found him a very intriguing as a character and would of liked to have read more about him.

I would recommend this book to anyone that likes a good sensitive but gripping and intriguing read.
