I should have known I’d like this book when I read that the author was a former writer for Arrested Development (one of my favorite shows). It’s a crazy, fun read that perfectly points out so many Seattle idiosyncrasies. I truly couldn’t help laughing out loud, regardless of the company I was in at the time.

The book tells the story of a fairly disfunctional family – overworked Microsoft father, stay-at-home/scared-to-leave home mother whose intellect is less than challenged in her surroundings, and a brilliant school-aged daughter who (tries to) keeps them all in line. There’s love, family, adventure, mystery and above all, a lot of laughs along the way.

If you live in or are headed to Seattle and enjoy a humorous look at this amazing city (my hometown, actually), bring along a copy of Where’d You Go, Bernadette.
