It was the cover that attracted me to this book. A stylised portrait of Hitler against a stark white background. It sets the tone immediately for an off the wall novel about Hitler’s unexplained return to modern day Berlin.

To get the most out this book you need to know German culture. It was originally published in Germany and has been very popular. This is a book about Germany and German attitudes towards Hitler and the Nazi era. It’s also a sideways look at modern social media culture and the freedom to express opinions to the wider public.

Hitler becomes an overnight social media sensation. His opinions haven’t changed but they are treated as a parody and no one believes anyone could hold these views any more. Which means he gets even more publicity and more popular and finds himself with an audience to express his shocking beliefs.

Look Who’s Back is a sly look at modern culture and often very, very funny. But be warned… you may find yourself unintentionally laughing along with a modern day Hitler.
