Julie Caplin’s love for the city shines through
- Book: A Little Place in Prague
- Location: Prague
- Author: Julie Caplin
The sense of place in this book is outstanding; not just in the physical sense, but the people and their culture shine bright from the page. Only an author who loves somewhere could write this way, and it’s clear Julie Caplin does.
Being selected for a cultural programme to learn beer making in Prague is a new start for gregarious Leo, but he is stopped in his tracks when he finds his new flat mate is none other than Anna, a woman he has serious history with. And who completely blanks him. Meeting again is equally traumatic for Anna who has left her rather overbearing family to come to the city to pursue her dream of brewing a beer of her own.
Of course we know that along with the wonderful descriptions of Czech food and drink, romance will be on the menu, and Anna and Leo’s story is beautifully told. A warm and uplifting read for winter.
