- Book: I am China

- Author: Xiaolu Guo
This is a very interesting novel about the life of a translator. Iona is given a bundle of papers, clippings and articles and she sets about finding out more about Mongolian- Chinese musician Jian and his poet girlfriend Mu. From a flat in Angel, Islington she begins to piece together their romance and culture.
I felt I learned a lot about Chinese culture along the way, the style for me wasn’t easy to read, however.. And I will give it 4 for location because of the informative nature of Chinese history, rather than ‘actual’ China, if that makes sense.
