Love photography and a mix of urban and bucolic landscapes, across all the seasons? This is a coffee table book to savour and enjoy as you leaf through c.215 pages of stunning photography.

Whittling down all the wonderful entries and coming up with a single image, the overall winner, must have proved a tremendous challenge to the 8 judges! A terrific feat! The winner of Landscape Photographer of the Year 2020 is Chris Frost, “Woolland Wood” which shows a forest scene with wild garlic (and here are the technical details: NIKON D3200, Sigma 10-20mm ƒ/11.0 1/25 ISO 400. Processed in Camera Raw/Photoshop and Nik software. Changes to colour, contrast and tonality).

It is delightful to browse through such an iconic tome, stuffed to the gunnels with beautiful landscapes, both rural and urban. And anyone in Britain will be able to find landmark photos taken in their vicinity. It certainly puts my own photographic skills into perspective.

There are both Adult and Youth categories and a black/white section at the end and it is lovely to see younger photographers represented; however. I felt a little downbeat to note that women seem to be so under represented. Maybe that can be spur to female photographers to really get stuck in and get their names out there.
