Aimed at 6-8 year olds this is a colourful and delightful way to discover various artists through the ages and to find out a bit more about the art styles and paintings for which they are famous.
Many of the artists have a link to Europe but others, like Andy Warhol and Frida Kalho, were busy forging their craft in NYC and Mexico respectively, so it truly is an art world tour.
Stepping into each artist’s studio, the author highlights individual and famous artworks and offers a couple of chapters about the modus operandi and the Art Movement with which the artist was associated. There are pertinent things to spot and a little quiz, with answers at the back of the book.
The illustrations are full of colour and so very engaging, and this is definitely an ideal book to initiate young art lovers into an endless world of creativity. Highly recommended.
