This is the third book in the Capitaine Coste Trilogy and can be read as a standalone

Welcome to a side of Paris that not many tourists see.

The novel opens in Marveil prison as prisoners jostle for position in the offenders’ hierarchy. It is a raw and unflinching opener to what pans out to be a gritty police procedural with a well drawn – troubled, of course – protagonist.

Capitaine Vincent Coste has already penned his resignation letter but now, with a kidnapping case and the fact that vital evidence has been stolen from the Bobigny Law Courts (jeopardising the cases against 4 men) he feels obliged to lead his team through a morass of machinations. Can they fathom the connections and keep cool heads whilst danger lurks at every turn?

A good read for those who like action coupled with dangerous and precipitous situations.
