Crow Moon is set in fictional Strathbran, in Stirlingshire, deep in the heart of Trossachs country. It is the first title in a new series.

Fancy a nerve-tingling atmospheric thriller? Ordinary people, going about their daily lives, find themselves caught up in a catalogue of brutal murders. The unfolding story is imbued with a good gothic twist, dark doings and fluttering birds aplenty.

We know that a teenage boy has been abducted and early on gain a glimpse of his tortured incarceration and the curious prose that has been inscribed across his bare torso.

Martha Strangeways is an ex-journalist. Yes, she has a backstory: her twin children died in a house fire and it is she who stumbles across a young man’s body in a remote area behind her house. She knows exactly who he is and fears for the safety of her remaining child, a contemporary of the victim. She simply has to get involved for safety’s sake and teams up with DI Derek Summers. As the two dig deeper, they discover long hidden secrets and dark rituals that add a frisson of horror to the unfolding events.

This is a well-laid out storyline that has good twists and turns, with a good pinch of creepy occult.
