Peppy Grove really exists!

This is the first book I have read by this author and will definitely go out of my way to read the others. She beautifully evokes both Dublin and Perth and I feel could confidently wander along any of the streets of either city and see some the places mentioned. This just brings the book to life! The sun just shines through her words when the setting is Western Australia. The slightly depressive air in Dublin – with the downturn in the economy – is captured, too. The characters are warm and well drawn, the family cross-overs work realistically to my mind. The book comes together really well as a kind of guidebook to both Dublin and Perth/Fremantle with a good storyline thrown in (as it were!). Definitely a good read and evocative of location!
