This book takes you on a journey of the evolving relationship between Hadley and Ernest as they fall in love and then develop as they mature and start a family. There are times when you want to shake Hadley for the decisions and experiences she lets herself go through whilst Ernest strives to live a ‘full, dramatic’ lifestyle.

At times, there appears to be too more socialising, with prolonged days of drinking, meals which questions how they manage to continue in light of limited work. Set mainly in Paris, they do travel quite extensively, so a view of other European countries provides an interesting mix.

Although frustrating and pure escapism at times, I became glued to the book and became increasingly harder to put it down.
