A soul-touching read!
- Book: Sunsets in Oia
- Location: Oia, Santorini
- Author: Sheila Busteed
As they say, Greece is the most magical place on Earth! and Greece’s beauty is because of its many beautiful cities, which gives a definition to Greece. Sunsets in Oia by Sheila Busteed is a love story situated in another beautiful city of Greece, Oia in Santorini. It’s situated on the largest active volcano of the world. Enough of my geography lessons, you should read this book to find out more about this town. Thanks to the author, for presenting a vivid image of the town of Oia, most of the time I felt like I was standing on Selene’s cavehouse veranda or on that hot beach. This is about Selene, who has recently lost both her parents on riots, and has recently taken a break from her band to spend some time alone in their parent’s holiday home in Oia. There she meets her childhood friend, Nikos, who has now all grown-up to be a very handsome man. Sparks fly and hence a summer romance begins. Since its Sheila Busteed’s debut novel, she has proved that she is really talented, it seems she has a way in telling stories naturally. Sunsets in Oia is actually a love story but she has made that love story more beautiful by adding that alluring scenic village, Oia. Reading this book, you’ll feel like you are transported to that gorgeous village, walking down its narrow roads, and watching sunset. Oia gives a dazzling view of the sunset, and this makes Oia very popular among tourists, and the author has brilliantly captured that perfect moment, it seems I’ve not missed that sunset at all. The chemistry between Nikos and Selene is way too hot and quite mature (because of the description, which is also very vivid and expressive!). The characters are also very well-developed and Nikos perfectly suits with the looks and features of a Greek man, and that’s what Selene has fallen for. Selene is going through a rough time, she is getting haunted by her parent’s ghosts and Nikos saves her just at the right moment. And eventually Selene’s perspective widens, she learns to know more about herself and how to overcome her loss and also she finds another of her talent by singing folk songs. So if you want a trip to this village, Oia, definitely read this book, because it’ll leave you stupefied with the beauty and the story of Selene.
